I first thought that he must be some other person with the same name, even when I saw him I though he is someone else as he was wearing the black sherwani, which he’ll only wear again on his wedding or if he is receiving another medal. Yes he was the Atif Aslam and to be honest, I was surprised and to some extent shocked to see him receiving the Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, the medal of excellence. No doubt he is a good singer, a unique voice, but at the same time a controversial figure. Whether breaking up from the original band, Jal, or giving statements in India and performing there and singing songs of Indian movies, or found drunk here or there, every now n then he comes up with something, good or bad, to keep him in the news. I’d rather wait for a few more years before awarding him any medal…

another magnum opus of illogical thinking by the much acclaimed CDGK…the new U turns which r surfacing on the roads of Karachi…the latest one is on the Rashid Minhas Road near Aladin Park. Even though it is a very good approach to keep the traffic moving without much hassle created by the U-turners, but the execution is not up to the mark. Any U-turning vehicles have to surpass the traffic coming from the U-turns of the opposite side.
In picture 1, the red arrows points the vehicles moving into the rightmost lane in order to take the U-turn, and the vehicles coming out from the U-turns has to move in the left lanes to go straight. Result is a chaotic scene made by the vehicles crossing each other in order to get into the desired lanes. ![]()
Picture 2 exemplifies a simple solution to this problem. Only the positions of the U-turns needs to be changed and bingo…Only if any sane person in the CDGK or the Constructing Company ever thinks of it.
P.S. i know the images looks awful…but atleast they r serving the purpose

i came across a new school of thought about the Qurbani this eid. couple of families thought that the Qurbani of animals is a mass-slaughter which should be not happen, or even banned by the government. they went to the extent of saying that if there is any provision in changes in the laws of Islam, Qurbani should be the first one to be banned.
another group of ppl gives the reference of Chapter 22, Verse 37 of the Quran to support their argument that instead of sacrificing the animal, we should use the money on some charitable purpose, as its the Taqwa and the Devotion which reaches Allah, not the meat or blood.
there have been some voices in the west against this spiritual act, but those were mostly from the non-muslims who don’t really understand the scared nature of it. but for the first time i’ve heard ppl actually expressing this thought in public, which i can only say is coz of the mis-conception or rather lack of any concept at all. Divine laws are not like the constitution of Pakistan which can be amended numerously even imposing PCO to rupture it to their likings.
i just wanna say one thing; i’m glad to know the fact that there aint a Constantine in the Islamic history
